ABOUT ME and MY ART

Having recently relocated to Erie, PA I want to be able to expand my art business to be able to offer my portraits, drawings, paintings and photography to folks from all over the country.   I have been drawing since I was a child and started doing pet portraits for friends about 25 years ago.  I started in watercolor, but soon discovered that pastels truly allow me to make the animal look more realistic, the fur more touchable.  I introduced the graphite drawings about 18 years ago when was asked to do some portraits of basketball players from a local high school girls' team.  They turned out so well that I started to expand my graphite drawings to include a series of my Amish fiends' children as well as commissioned portraits of people and pets..   When choosing from pastel or pencil for your drawing, keep in mind that I can be far more detailed with pencil.  Pastel costs a little more because of the medium being quite messy and there are several layers as well as constant blending so it takes a bit longer.  Portrait image sizes will range from 8x10 to 11x14 depending on what you want an how many subjects are in the drawing as well as which medium is used.  Prices depending on medium used, number of subjects, head and shoulder vs whole body and whether backgrounds are added.  All portraits will be sprayed with a fixative, however, they still must be framed behind glass to avoid damage.  Do not finger any completed drawings as even though the fixative protects the drawing, it will not protect from from smearing.  I will mat all drawings with a neutral mat.  I do not frame artwork being shipped due to possibility of glass damage.

  I am also introducing a new product, to me, to my line up of offerings and it is really a very old art .  This is rice name jewelry, with names and sayings written on grains of rice encased in a miniature oil filled tube.  I had seen this years ago and had bought some for myself and family.  I had forgotten about it until recently and decided I would give it a try since I have a pretty steady hand.   Make sure you visit the link to this intriguing art.
